Dear Matthew}+

      ^Hello^ Fine I am and U????
Daily my music becomes increasingly abstract? Most likely I
mean it is always as abstract as possible. You know what I
mean to convey^2. Well, what it really est est that I wrote a
really neat thingy that survives the very good test but which
I strongly suspect no one but I is ready for.

The very good test: Do I want to hear it "one more time" even
after the 400th listening? If "Yes" this time and the next,
then it is VERY good. If at any time I cannot bear to listen
to it, then it is "not good enough".

It has a purty sound in a sequence that is a complex DRONE.
On top of this is a STRANGE and INTRIGUING sound that plays a
largely monophonic melody as it undergoes the most ODD and
AMAZING contortions, SO ODD that I found that two minutes of
odd monophonic contortions = no more memory. Wow! That's
about 500k worth! Recall that Seduction (Much longer and full
of many <odd> contortions) is about 125k.
By the way, the music is clearly alien in origin.
Afterwards, I was actually brought aboard an alien
spacecraft. There they showed me an instrument. It had a sort
of cube of two foot 14" dimension on top of a table with
those Queen Ann legs and three drawers, one on top of
another, all quite slim, perhaps indicating a human influence
on their culture. The cube, on the left was a rough black
texture and open like a box with thick walls about one inch
thick. The left hand went inside the cube where its various
digits controlled the individual notes. To the right was a
similar table but longer with one or two long drawers side by
side. On this table were six transparent horizontal planes
spaced four inches apart by roundish black spacers at each
corner. Each planar pane was eighteen by about forty-eight
inches. A right appendage digit went between each pane as
needed to control various aspects of each event generated by
the left hand. I was about to try it out and see what it
sounded like (The alien guy was very pleased to show me the
whole thing) but I was annoyingly snapped out of his the craft
dimension before I could. I hope his craft returns. It was a
very large ovaloid with a oddly shaped thing-o on top and
another below. The top thingo was vaguely triangular but
      pretty round and bulbuous.
Strange, but not until writing this did all the connections
occur to me. Before, the alien visit was just a separate
event in my life but know I see the intriguing connection
between it and the album Alien Artifacts and also my alien
tune that I have either written, transcribed, collaborated on
or reconstructed. Was I supposed to remember the alien visit?
It seems so. Yes, I am sure.:..(?)
       an y w a (y),,, I have some ideas that this groundbreaking
oddness (of the song) has inspired. I think I can get away
with something this different in the mainstream (quite
cleverly) by surrounding it by really wonderful stuff and

      keeping this as the diversionary/contrasting/interlude
material. In this way, instead of being "too strange to deal
with" for most it will be "that absolutely incredible part."
Hopefully I'll be able to pull it off fantastically. If I do,
I'll be amazed and astounded (I'm visualizing how it will
sound- can I transcribe that to a physical medium?). Wish me
      luck!
ANoThEr wAy tO do it is to try some nice pretty material and
have selected effectual selections come in and out at various
      intervals.

Well, I hope your tape comes with this letter. It will if a I
find an appropriate mailer. (I can't decide between the soft
plastic thick postcard and the padded mailer- probably the
      latter.)

You must write me back You must you must you must.
