Questions? Comments? Just ask! Li’l Miss’ Scale Oven
is now being productively used worldwide by
professional composers to make use of non-western tunings in hip-hop,
ambient, world, folk, experimental music and film scores. Just write
me and I can help you evaluate your situation — tell me what
instruments, software and platform you use and I’ll let you know if
LMSO would be a sensible investment for you. LMSO is available for the
Macintosh only. It runs great on OS X versions 10.3 through 10.6.
I always like to hear about people’s interests and experiences with
different tunings. Let me know if you compose or perform, or just
listen, what music software you use, and what your musical goals
are.
Any feedback about things you enjoyed or hated or were surprised by on the web site,
let me know! There’s a lot of wild stuff in there if you look around for it.
We appreciate you; Thanks for stopping by!
— X. J. Scott
Please note: We have a great reputation for the ability to retune just
about anything and for providing great customer service. Because of this, many
people have recommended that their friends contact us for all sorts of
detailed technical help. This willingness to help has been abused somewhat.
Detailed technical support is for customers only. You should contact the
provider of your hardware and software if you need specific technical
assistance with it if you are not one of our customers. Private tutoring and
consultation for non-customers is sometimes available at hourly rates.
Thanks for understanding. If you would like to talk about composition, scale
structures, or music that’s not a problem and is welcome whether or not
you are a customer.
Prices
Important Note: OS X 10.7 Lion is
not currently compatible with LMSO. OS X versions 10.3 through 10.6 Snow Leopard work fine with LMSO. A Lion compatible version is under
development but the release date is not determined. We apologize for the
inconvenience.

Priority Shipping Notes
2International Priority shipping is extremely expensive and not recommended.
These shipments tend to attract more import attention and carriers require
more paperwork since everything needs to be in perfect order. Researching and
arranging the proper paperwork can sometimes take weeks by which time it would
have long ago arrived via normal shipping. Payment (usually it costs around
$100 or more) must be paid in advance and is completely non-refundable.
Domestic Priority Mail shipping is sometimes available for shipments to the
48 contiguous US states for $24 extra. This covers the cost of shipping plus
the couple hours it takes to drive it to the post office and stand in line.
Priority arrives one day earlier than it would
have otherwise. It is said to arrive in 2-3 days rather than 3-5 days starting
the weekday after it is mailed, but there is no guarantee, and in practice it
means it takes one day less. Since we have to go to the post office, which we
don’t do every day, sometimes this means that we will ship the Priority
package a few days after it would have gone out normally (which is usually
within 3 days), eliminating the time advantage. There are no guarantees as to date of arrival and no refunds of any kind
for Priority shipping whether or not it arrives when expected. In the old days shipments could take 6-9 months and
arrived by Clipper ship, assuming it wasn’t lost rounding Cape Horn. 130
years ago pianos cost a small fortune, much due to shipping costs from Europe
or Chicago. 130 years ago, my grandmother’s
second cousin Erastus Caswell Jr. became the president of the Hemme & Long
piano company which was the first piano company on the west coast, able to
sell good pianos at a lower cost due to manufacturing in San Francisco and
delivery by horse drawn wagon rather than transcontinental steam locomotive or
clipper ship as before. Current delivery is much faster than this due to the
low cost of petroleum. We can arrange partial
delivery by animal if needed though, this may add a day though for us to strap
the package to a cat, goat, dog, chicken or horse and take a photo. Er, yes,
we have done this and it’s still less trouble than expedited mail and
quite a bit more fun and memorable.
We do not offer overnight delivery because it is not possible to guarantee we can
prepare a shipment and get to the post office in time and usually we can not
do so. UPS and FedEx are simply not available since we don’t have
pickup.
Normal shipment is usually prompt and is included at no extra charge, we
recommend everyone use that instead and it’s often faster anyway.
Other Versions
Sorry, but we do not have PC/Windows versions of LMSO or IntervalCalc. PC
users may wish to check out Fractal Tune Smithy, a microtonal application for Windows by
